An enthusiastic person follows after something with excitement; and eagerly, fervently, and zealously pursues a goal. A young person should enthusiastically work to serve Jesus Christ and to become more like Him. You should have a sense of eagerness – an excitement in your mind, to accomplish those things that the Lord has planned for you to do today as well as those things that He has planned for you to do in the future. You should anticipate with excitement the provisions of God, the blessings of God, the strength of God, the fruits of the Spirit, and the miracles that you expect to see as a result of your work and prayers (others saved, Christians restored to fellowship with God, needs met, etc.).

A Christian whose enthusiasm is toward those things that the world enjoys the most has no purpose in his life other than to seek his own pleasure. Prov. 14:14 His life, for the most part, will be useless to the One who saved him from eternity in Hell, and Who promised him an eternity in a perfect, sinless place called Heaven. A Christian has been given every reason to enthusiastically serve the Lord Who has done so much for him. Fully giving yourself to the Lord is not unreasonable service! Rom. 12:1

The unconverted show an enthusiasm for the activities of the world; the fun, things, money, entertainment, amusement parks, sports, hobbies, music, computers, or other interests. These things all become sinful (things that were not already sinful to take part in) to a Christian who is more enthusiastic about any of them than he is about serving the Lord.

Are you enthusiastic about your service for the Lord?

  1. I eagerly look forward to the work that the Lord has for me to do each day.
  2. I make decisions about things that I need to change, set goals, and eagerly work to achieve my goal with the Lord’s help.
  3. I am always alert for more opportunities to serve the Lord.
  4. I eagerly fight to continue doing those things that I know are right to do.
  5. I am excited about the privilege that I have to serve the Lord each day.
  6. I am eager to do things for my parents.
  7. I eagerly look forward to a time each day when I can be alone to read my Bible.
  8. I eagerly look forward to a time each day when I can talk to the Lord in prayer.
  9. I eagerly look forward to the times when I can talk with one of my parents or another Christian adult about spiritual things.
  10. I eagerly seek to give out the Gospel through talking to others or by giving out tracts. pastedGraphic.png
